Legacy MA Hosts Third Annual Ft. Wayne Karate Championships
On Saturday September 27th Legacy Martial Arts hosted our 3rd Annual Fort Wayne Karate Championships which drew approximately 200 competitors from: IN, IL, OH, MI, and KY! This was a nationally sanctioned event by the Professional Karate Commission and a state double points tournament for the Tournament Karate Association. The tournament was held at Concordia Seminary’s (6600 North Clinton St, Fort Wayne) gymnasium which was a great venue!
Competitors competed in up to four events: Kata, Weapons Kata, Kumite(Sparring), and Chanbara(Foam Sword Sparring). There was a lot of great competition and even better sportsmanship as we pride ourselves on being a family friendly organization.
This year had many great sponsors including: Oak Tree Supply, Monster Tree Service of Fort Wayne, Jalapeños Mexican Restaurant, Century Martial Arts, Carlos Machado BJJ, Gorilla Gear Sports Wear, Sharky’s Cuts for Kids, Vessel Refillery, Eosin Panther Custom Belts & Uniforms, Money Saver Monthly, and Spark Membership Services.
We would also like to thank: The TKA (Tournament Karate Association) effectively & efficiently running the tournament on our behalf by providing: Tournament Directors, Mats, Awards, Black Belt Judges, School Support and a lot of hard work. And also the PKC (Professional Karate Commission) who provided school support, and Black Belt Judges!
Next year’s event will be at the same venue on September 26, 2026!
